Taylor Behl is a senior studying Interior Design and will be graduating in May 2014.
She is currently a member of ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) and IIDA (International Interior Design Association). She is also a member of Tau Sigma Delta Honor Society and Golden Key Honor Society.
Taylor plans to find a job soon after graduation and to continue learning. She feels experience is the best teacher, and hopes that as she learns, she will design and create better spaces. She also wants to help make the world a greener place by always including sustainability in her design choices.
Taylor is most influenced and inspired by the architect Zaha Hadid because she pushes the limits. She is also influence by Buckminster Fuller, and feels his outlook on sustainability for future generations is guidance that we all should strive to live by.
Taylor has always been a creative thinker who loved to draw, but didn’t major in interior design until her sophomore year. However, she has already gained quite a bit of experience in her chosen field. Taylor completed an externship at HOK and Christner, Inc in St. Louis, Missouri, and has worked as a residential and commercial design consultant at Wrights Furniture and Flooring in Dietrich, Illinois and Wrights Do-It Center in Murphysboro, Illinois.
Taylor thinks the best thing about SIU is the guidance she has received from the faculty and the connections she has made with her fellow students. In her free time, Taylor enjoys scuba diving and is currently working to become scuba certified.
